Thanks from camera operator/cel painter Ramon Modiano

Ramon Modiano, camera operator and cel painter on Yellow Submarine, has received his copy of It’s All In The Mind

“Dear Dr. Bob and Laura,

It’s fabulous — I love it!

It’s amazing to think that I was 17 then, and now I’m 71…… however, suddenly I feel that I’m 17 once again (can’t be bad) and so pleased to have been a part of all this. It is funny to think that I can’t remember what I had for lunch yesterday and yet (and with the help of your book) the memories and excitement of those special years in the sixties are as fresh as ever.

I’m also fascinated by the Yellow Submarine Journal which you have also kindly sent me along with all the other gifts. I really like the ‘Cloisonne’ pin set which are based on the TV series and have always thought that they were great caricatures of the Beatles. A big thank you for everything and to have sent me the signed Heinz designed Paul McCartney — “Fab” as we used to say.

I think that all that’s left for me to do now is to watch the movie, which I will do this evening, and yes! Pretend that I’m 17 once again.

Many thanks to you both and I hope the book does very well — when I bought your volume one, I ordered it from our London bookshop (Waterstones) and they got it for me within a couple of weeks. I would have thought that the same should be possible with volume 2…. By the way, the printing is superb especially of the colour photos which have come out really well – I’m sure you must be very pleased with that.

Once again, my sincere thanks and I’m so pleased to have played a small part in your terrific book.

Very best wishes,

Ramon”

We heard from Yellow Sub artist Chris Caunter

Chris Caunter, special effects animator on Yellow Submarine, wrote us yesterday:

“Hello Laura and Dr. Bob,

A weighty cardboard box arrived today pasted all over with United States Postal Service stickers, Customs Declarations, official rubber stampings, and a label bearing the magic inscription: from Maryland, USA.

Ah wonderful!

I slit open the box, and there, eager to be read, were both your books, plus all the extras. Many thanks. The books look great, and thank you also for signing them both.

You’ve done an excellent job in arranging and editing all that material. Well done.

The books will look handsome, side by side, on my bookshelves. I shall enjoy reading them again, slowly. In fact I’ve already started.

Best wishes and thanks again,

Chris.”
